Saint Joseph's College to Offer Yoga for Relaxation and Yoga for Sports
Saint Joseph's College will offer Yoga for Relaxation and Yoga for Sports. Yoga for Relaxation will be held on Monday evenings, beginning April 30 and ending May 21, 5:30-6:20 pm CDT. Yoga for Sports will be held on Tuesday evenings, beginning May 1 and ending May 22, 5:30-6:20 pm CDT. Both courses will be held in the Presidential Suite in the Richard F. Scharf Alumni Fieldhouse on the SJC campus. The cost for each course is $44 or $66 for both courses.
The courses will be instructed by Melanie Clark, M.S.W. Melanie has nearly 16 years of experience teaching life skills, personal development, and leadership development to youth and adults.
The Yoga for Relaxation course will center on the goal of attaining a state of perfect spiritual insight and tranquility through physical, mental, and spiritual discipline. Yoga originated in ancient India and has been shown to build strength, increase flexibility, and alleviate stress. Participants must bring their own Yoga mat for both courses.
The Yoga for Sports course will use Yoga poses to counter-balance stretching and strength building for sports such as swimming, running, cycling, basketball, and volleyball. Depending upon the sport, focus will be on upper body strength and flexibility, lower body strength and flexibility, or core strength and flexibility.
