Saint Joseph's College Jazz Band to End Busy Slate with Concert
The Saint Joseph's College Jazz Concert will be held Sunday, April 15 at 4:00 pm CDT in the Evans Arts and Science Building Theatre on the SJC campus. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.
Aside from the jazz concert, the Jazz Band will be featured prominently in the spring musical, "The 1940's Radio Hour." The musical will be held on April 12, 13, and 14 at 7:30 pm CDT in the Evans Arts and Science Building Theatre.
"This is extremely hard for the students," said Assistant Professor of Music Dr. Paul Geraci. "With three dress rehearsals, three musical shows, and the jazz concert, they have to be true professionals. However, we have a few extra tunes up our sleeve for the concert."
The Jazz Band will perform such pieces as Eddie Harris' "Cold Duck Time", a jazz standard from 1969 originally performed by jazz pianist Les McCann. It will also perform a popular jazz fusion arrangement of a standard by Herbie Hancock titled "Watermelon Man," a tune that has been recorded more than 200 times by various artists.
