Saint Joseph's College Choirs to Perform Lenten Concert
Saint Joseph's College Choirs will perform a concert of sacred music for the Lenten season at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in St. John, Ind. on Sunday, March 25 at 3:00 pm CST. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.
The concert will feature works by composers such as Joseph Haydn, Tomas Luis Vittoria, Thomas Tallis, Gilbert Martin, Edward Elgar, and Norman Dello Joio.
"This is an exciting addition to our regular season of performances," stated SJC Director of Choirs Kelly A. Ford. "We have begun to do much more performing regionally and hope to expand our touring opportunities throughout the Midwest. I know that the students really enjoy the chance to perform for a wide audience, and as the choirs continue to grow in size and quality, I look forward to SJC's Music department cultivating not only a local and regional reputation, but a national one as well."
The SJC Concert Choir and Chamber Singers recently sang as part of a Tridentine Latin Mass at Chicago's historic St. John Cantius Catholic Church. In addition to their scheduled campus concerts and liturgies, the choirs will perform for Kankakee Valley High School in Wheatfield, Ind. and West Central High School in Francesville, Ind. on April 4.
