Saint Joseph's College Named Sixth Best Value College in the Midwest, Up Three Spots from Last Year
Rensselaer, Ind. - Saint Joseph's College has been named the sixth Best Value College in the Midwest, up three spots from last year's rankings, in the 2013 edition of "Best Colleges" by U.S. News Media Group. SJC was also named the 27th Best College in the Midwest. The exclusive rankings, which include 1,600 schools nationwide, are available at www.usnews.com/colleges.
Over the past two decades, the U.S. News college rankings, which group schools based on categories created by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, have grown to be the most comprehensive research tool for students and parents considering higher education opportunities.
"To be named one of the best colleges in the Midwest and also a top 10 value college in the Midwest for the third year in a row by U.S. News Media Group is a tremendous honor," said SJC President Dr. F. Dennis Riegelnegg. "This achievement is something in which the entire Saint Joseph's College community should take pride."
The 2013 "Best Colleges" feature rankings in various categories, such as Best National Universities and Best National Liberal Arts Colleges, while also including rankings of A+ Schools for B Students, Up-and-Coming Schools, and Student Debt Load at Graduation.
The 2013 "Best Colleges" package provides the most thorough examination of how 1,600 accredited four-year schools compare on a set of up to 16 widely accepted indicators of excellence. Among the many factors weighed in determining the rankings, the key measures of quality are: peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving, and - for national universities and national liberal arts colleges - graduation rate performance and high school counselor ratings of colleges.
