Saint Joseph's College Names Presidential and Huhn Scholarship Recipients
Saint Joseph's College has announced the recipients of the Presidential Scholarship and the Thomas J. Huhn Scholarship.
This year's Presidential Scholarship recipient is Erin Hyland of Plainfield, Ill. The daughter of Sheilah and George Hyland, Jr., Hyland plans to major in Biology and play volleyball at SJC. As a student at Plainfield Central High School, Hyland played volleyball, was a member of the Wildcat Athletic Leadership Club, and did volunteer work for the Plainfield Public Library.
The recipient of the Huhn Scholarship is Reid Imel, son of Bruce and Lynda Imel, of Bluffton, Ind. Imel played basketball and tennis at Norwell High School and plans to major in Athletic Training at SJC.
The Presidential Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship. Students wishing to compete must be admitted to SJC as a full-time degree-seeking student. Students must also be a recipient by January 15 of either an Honors Scholarship or a Deans Scholarship.
The Huhn Scholarship is a four-year, full-tuition, room and board scholarship. It is given to an incoming freshman who has exhibited exceptional leadership skills, maintained a cumulative 2.5 GPA, played basketball or football in high school, and resides and attends high school in Allen County, Ind. or its contiguous counties. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must complete the SJC admission process by January 31. If selected to compete for the scholarship, the student is invited to the on-campus portion of the competition, which consists of an interview by members of the Huhn Scholarship Committee.
