Building Access Policy
During business hours, the College (excluding residence halls) will be open to students, parents, employees, contractors, guest and invitees. During non-business hours, access to College facilities is limited to those with a legitimate need and/or admittance by Security and Safety or Campus Life staff.
Residence halls are secured 24 hours a day, and entrance into a residence hall is limited to the occupants, their escorted guests and employees of the College as necessary to fulfill their job responsibilities. It is of paramount importance that residents assist in maintaining the security of the buildings by making sure that entrance doors remain locked, and by promptly reporting any suspicious activity. Over extended breaks, permission to remain in a residence hall must be obtained in advance from the Assistant Dean for Campus Life.
Although Security Officers, Campus Life, and Physical Plant Staff have primary responsibility for making rounds and reporting issues that could pose a security concern, all members of the SJC community are encouraged to be vigilant and to report campus safety and security concerns to the Security Office.
