Phone Instructions
To place local calls:
- dial 9 for an outside line + the 7 digit phone number
To place an 800 number call:
- dial 9 for an outside line
- dial 1-800-number
- at the stutter dial tone, enter your PIN number
- calling cards: dial the area code + phone number, then the PIN number on your calling card.
To place an operator-assisted call:
- dial 9 for an outside line
- dial 0 + area code + 7 digit telephone number
- at the stutter dial tone, enter your 7 digit PIN number
- a telephone recording will assist you to place your operator-assisted call
Long distance direct dialed phone calls:
- dial 9 for an outside line
- dial 1 + area code + telephone number
- at the stutter dial tone, enter your 7 digit PIN number
- your call will be processed and billed to your SJC account
- long distance rates: 25 cents for first minute; 10 cents for each additional minute
To receive calls from off campus:
- dial 219-866-6000
- the auto-attendant will ask the caller to please dial the 4-digit extension of the person to whom they wish to speak
- one the caller has entered an extension, the call will automatically be transferred to the corresponding student's room
AUDIX voice mail:
- AUDIX will pick up your incoming calls if you do not answer your phone within 4 rings or if you are busy on another call. To log into AUDIX for the first time, follow these instructions:
- dial 6060
- enter your extension number and the # sign
- when AUDIX asks for your password and the # sign - ONLY PRESS THE # SIGN
- AUDIX will guide you through in recording your name and programming into the computer your own personal password
- to retrieve your voicemail messages, press option 2 from the activity menu
To retrieve voicemail messages from off campus:
- dial 219-866-6000
- the auto-attendant will ask you for the 4-digit extension of the person to whom you wish to speak
- dial 6060 for AUDIX
- enter your extension number and the # sign
- enter your password and the # sign
- to retrieve your voicemail messages, press option 2 from the activity menu
Your telephone instrument must be plugged into the ivory colored telephone jack.
