Computer Troubleshooting
I have everything installed and my computer registered, but I still can't connect.
Check to see that the cable is plugged into the orange or red data port in your room and not into the phone jack. Make certain you do not have firewall software installed, as this may not allow you access to the network. If you still can't access the SJC Network, call extension 6111.

My computer has lost its network connection
One reason for loss of network connection could be that the staff of the Computer Center has detected suspicious activity coming from your machine and has disabled the port in your room. You machine could be infected with a virus or some type of spyware. Call the Computer Center at ext. 6111 to determine the steps needed to remedy the situation and get your port turned back on.
What happens if my computer develops a problem?
The Computer Center will only provide support up to the point of network connection in the residence hall. Due to the large variety of computer manufacturers, we are unable to repair student machines or fix hardware problems. Check with the manufacturer for warranty requirements or check with local computer repair shops. The Computer Center will also not reinstall software on a student's computer or loan any media to the student for the purpose of reinstalling any software product.

What happens if I change rooms?
You must register your computer each time you move from residence hall to residence hall if you wish to remain connected. You can update your registration here.
Can I purchase software or a computer through SJC?
Saint Joseph's College has entered into an agreement with eAcademy to allow students to purchase select Microsoft products such as Office at a discounted price. You will need to have a valid SJC username and password to access the following website:
Where do I go if I have questions about the network?
The Computer Center staff is available to answer any questions you may have. Our office is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM until 6:00 PM; our phone extension is 6111 from on campus. From off campus we can be reached at 219-866-6111.
