Summer Internship and Research Opportunities for Mathematics Students

The REU Program  ( Research Experience for Undergraduates ) Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, this program  makes possible a number of opportunities for  undergraduates to join research projects each summer at host institutions.  Each student is assigned to a  specific research project, working closely with the faculty, post-docs, and

IAS / Park City Mathematics Institute
Held at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, the flagship activity of the Park City Mathematics Institute is an annual summer session, where undergraduate and graduate students, high school educators, college faculty, and researchers meet to exchange information and insight about mathematics.  Web site:  www.ias.edu/parkcity

2005 Summer Undergraduate Applied Mathematics Institute
Carnegie Mellon University will offer a summer program for twelve undergraduates considering research careers in mathematical sciences. Students who have finished their sophomore or junior years and who have strong academic records will be given preference. Among applicants who are otherwise comparable, admission to the program will be designed to create an ethnically diverse group of participants. Summer Mathematics for Women

Summer Program for Women in Mathematics
The George Washington University Summer Program for Women in Mathematics (SPWM) is a five-week intensive program for mathematically- talented undergraduate women who are completing their junior year and may be contemplating graduate study in the mathematical sciences. Goals of this program are to communicate an enthusiasm for mathematics, to develop research skills, to cultivate mathematical self-confidence and independence, and to promote success in graduate school.

DOE Summer Internship Program:
The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory, a major research center, is pleased to announce opportunities for college and university undergraduate students to participate in the Laboratory's ongoing research programs. In addition to such opportunities, the U.S. Department of Energy is directly sponsoring research participation at other DOE facilities.  At Argonne, college/university students may obtain research experience through the Department of Energy's Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships Program or the Student Research Participation
